The coffee cherry is the outer skin of the coffee bean we are familiar with, and while coffee growers used to toss them out, there is now evidence that the fruit is even healthier than the bean. It contains more antioxidants than blueberries, strawberries and pomegranates, which causes a boost to the immune system. The fruit also contain anti-inflamatory and anti-viral properties, and can create youthful looking skin when handled topically. This fruit is low in calories but high in nutrients, and offers a wonderful alternative to the traditional dried bean for those who wish to seek it out.
